Rich Medina comes to Pappy & Harriet’s for an exclusive performance highlighting the music of legendary Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti. Medina’s relationship with music began in his family’s church and was shaped by a lifelong mix of gospel, soul, funk, jazz, disco and rock. That foundation has carried him into DJ booths around the world and into a career as a DJ, platinum-selling producer, recording artist, poet, curator and educator. His legendary Li’l Ricky’s Rib Shack residency helped define an era of New York nightlife, while Jump-N-Funk, North America’s original Fela Kuti tribute, became an important early platform for Afrobeat in the U.S. In 2021, Medina became co-owner and music director of Dante’s HiFi+ in Miami, which expanded to Ibiza in 2026. A 2021 Pew Fellow, he has collaborated with artists including Jill Scott, J Dilla, Masters at Work, Louie Vega and Brian Jackson, and has lectured at Cornell University, The Barnes Foundation and TEDxPhilly. Rich Medina remains a modern-day renaissance man whose work continues to connect music, history and culture across generations.
