ABOUT:

Donavon Frankenreiter

For nearly two decades Donavon Frankenreiter has been traveling the globe, first as a professional surfer and now as a musician. Born in Southern California, Donavon spent most of his youth chasing waves, turning pro at the age of 16.

These days instead of surf competitions, it’s concert halls that bring Frankenreiter to town, where he entertains audiences with his unique blend of laid-back grooves, philosophical lyrics and soulful delivery.

Frankenreiter is released his first studio in 9 years, out September 20, 2024. The album, entitled Get Outta Your Mind, marks the 20 year anniversary of his self-titled debut album.

The Band of Heathens

For nearly two decades, Austin’s The Band of Heathens have carved their own lane—pairing sharp songwriting with a sound that’s long outpaced the Americana curve. With their upcoming album, Country Sides, the band reflects on 20 years of building something entirely their own.

Formed in 2005, the Heathens broke through with their soulful blend of country and rock, earning memorable spots on Austin City Limits and growing a loyal fan base one show at a time. Though the lineup has evolved, founding songwriters Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist remain the creative core, shaping the band’s voice and steady rise.

A DIY ethos has always defined the Heathens—no label machine, no shortcuts, just an unwavering commitment to honest, organic music. That independence is woven throughout Country Sides, an 11-song collection pulled from dozens written during a period of looking inward and taking stock.

Recorded at Quist’s Austin-area studio, the album explores themes of time, struggle, love, and the band’s own winding journey. Tracks like “Take The Cake,” “Pleasing People,” and “High On Our Own Supply” reflect both personal truths and the broader story of a group that has always followed instinct over industry.

Now 20 years in—with milestones like their platinum-certified hit “Hurricane”—the band is creating with more clarity and confidence than ever.

“We’re grateful to be this far into the ride with fans who’ve followed every turn,” Quist says.

“We’ve built this on our own terms,” adds Jurdi. “And we’re proud of the path that got us here.”
