The After Dark Fund returns to The Hamilton Live to present a Halloween night extravaganza featuring two of the most exciting and dynamic party bands in the mid Atlantic when CHOPTEETH AFO FUNK BIG BAND & COREY AECENEAUX & ZYDECO HOT PEPPERS take the stage.

Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band is an 11-member, horn-heavy, percussive musical crew that's been churning up dance floors in the DC area for over 20 years, playing classic highlife, rumba, afrobeat, afrofunk and other sounds from Africa's 70s heyday, mixed with original compositions steeped in the music and message of that inspiring era. They have shared bills with Trombone Shorty, Galactic, Parliament Funkadelic & Gov’t Mule and have performed at the 930 Club, Strathmore Music Center, Blues Alley & festivals across the mid Atlantic.

Zydeco legend Corey Arceneaux hails from Louisiana and is 4th generation Creole accordionist. Corey and his band the Zydeco Hot Peppers music creatively blends R & B,and blues with traditional zydeco reflecting his cultural heritage. They have captivated audiences across the United States and internationally. Their dynamic performances have brought them to a wide variety of stages, spreading the zydeco gospel and packing dance floors from the first notes on. Arceneauxis a tireless advocate for zydeco, southern soul and Creole culture and he has also distinguished himself as an award winning commercial radio personality.

The After Dark Fund is a registered 501C3 non profit dedicated to supporting local musicians in DC, MD & VA who are facing hardship. After Dark was started by local journalist Mark Segraves & has been providing much needed support for the musical community and producing benefit concerts across the area since 2016.

A storming 11 piece powerhouse of big band African funk, Chopteeth is a smart, tight and relentlessly driving ensemble exploring the common groove between the funkiest most hip shakin’ West African & American popular music on the planet. The core of the Chopteeth sound is Afrobeat, a big band funk invented by Fela Kuti in the 1970’s Nigeria, a spicy stew of burning James Brown inspired funk blended with roiling Yoruba rhythms. Chopteeth has performed with Trombone Shorty, Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Derek Trucks and Gov’t Mule and on stages such as Strathmore, the 930 Club, Carter Barron Amphitheater, Adams Morgan Day Festival & The Smithsonian
