This August, TVs of Terror brings you not one but TWO terrifying creature-filled thrill-rides - first at our usual haunt Saturn, followed by a grand debut on the Lyric Theatre stage as part of the Sidewalk Film Festival later in the month!
For the first show, we present to you one of the kookiest, campiest "nature gone wrong" jaunts of the '90s - Frank Marshall's ARACHNOPHOBIA!
"A new species of South American killer spider hitches a lift to a California town in a coffin and starts to breed, leaving a trail of deaths that puzzle and terrify young Dr. Ross Jennings, who is newly arrived in town with his family."
A staple back in the heyday of cable television, the film stars a shortly pre-"Dumb and Dumber" Jeff Daniels alongside John Goodman and the late Julian Sands as the young doctor, an eccentric exterminator, and an expert hunting the spider, respectively. Director Frank Marshall worked primarily as a producer, but had several hit directorial efforts, following Arachnophobia up with Alive and (Nick's personal favorite) Congo. Along with Marshall, this film was also produced by the dynamic duo of Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg, and features much of the zing and charm of their other adventure films.
We hope you can come join us at Saturn for a plop on the couch and a few slices of pizza. As usual, we'll have free EVERYTHING, including pizza, popcorn, and snacks. Just watch out for any creepy critters that might be roaming around!
